Your path with us

What to expect, step by step

From the first conversation to ongoing sessions, you will always know what comes next. One named therapist stays with you the whole way through.

1

Free 15-minute consultation

A short, no-obligation call with a qualified therapist. You tell us briefly what has brought you to therapy, ask whatever is on your mind, and we both get a sense of whether we are the right fit. If we are not, we will say so and point you somewhere better.

Nothing to decide on the call itself.

2

Consultation follow-up

After the call we send one email with everything you need in one place: our current fees, the session times we have available, and the next step if you would like to go ahead. There is time to think it over.

Take your time. Decide at your own pace.

3

Booking and payment

When you are ready, you book and pay for your first session. You can pay as you go, or book a block of sessions at a reduced rate. We usually suggest starting with at least three sessions, because that is where meaningful progress tends to begin.

Blocks of four and eight are available.

4

Onboarding pack

Once your booking is confirmed we send your onboarding pack: intake forms, our counselling agreement, consent documentation and the practical details of how to attend, in person or online. Everything is ready before you walk in or log on.

Ten minutes of paperwork, done once.

5

Your first session: assessment and contracting

A guided, structured 60-minute conversation where you share your story in your own words. We talk through your background and how things are now, agree what you want from therapy, and take a short baseline using GAD-7, PHQ-9 and AAQ so you can see your progress later rather than take our word for it.

This is where we agree the focus of the work.

6

Ongoing therapy sessions

From your second session onward the focus is the work itself. You meet the same therapist, weekly or fortnightly at a consistent time, building on what has gone before and adjusting as your needs change. Blocks remain available at a reduced rate, and there is always room to pause, step back or extend.

Therapy works at your pace, and it is designed to end.

Common questions about starting therapy

What happens in the first session?

Your first session is a 60-minute assessment. It is a guided, structured conversation rather than a test: you share your story in your own words, we talk through your background and how things are now, and together we agree what you want from therapy. We also take a short baseline using GAD-7, PHQ-9 and AAQ, so that later on you can see the change rather than take our word for it.

What happens in an ordinary session?

Sessions are 50 minutes, usually weekly or fortnightly at a consistent time, with the same therapist throughout. Each one builds on the last. Our approach is Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, so alongside talking you will learn practical ways of relating differently to difficult thoughts and feelings, and of acting on what matters to you between sessions.

What do I need to do?

Turn up as you are. The work goes best when you are open about what is happening for you, willing to try things between sessions, and honest with your therapist about what is and is not helping. You are allowed to say a session missed the mark. That feedback is part of the work.

How do I get the most from therapy?

Three habits make a real difference. Take a few minutes before each session to notice what has happened since the last one and what you want to bring. Hold a clear sense of what you want to be different, which we will set together at the assessment and return to as we go. And pay attention to what you feel, in your body as much as your head, so you can bring it into the room.

Can I switch between online and in person?

Yes. We see people online across the UK and in person in Horsham and Wimbledon. You keep the same therapist whichever you choose, and you can move between the two as life requires.

Can I use private health insurance?

Yes. Our fees can be covered by Vitality, WPA, Healix Health, Healthcode, General & Medical Insurance and Allianz Partners. Check your policy for any excess or referral requirement, and mention your insurer in the free chat so we can get the paperwork right from the start.

Ready to take the first step?

Fifteen minutes. One honest conversation. No preparation needed, and if we are not the right fit for you, we will tell you and point you somewhere better.
