Private therapy in West Sussex, in person in Horsham and online across the county
BACP-registered psychological therapy for adults who are holding it together and tired of it. See us in Horsham, or from home anywhere in Sussex. The first step is a free 15-minute chat.
You have lived here long enough to know most of the people you pass in the high street, which is one of the reasons you have not talked to anyone about this. The other is that from the outside, nothing is wrong. You are the one others lean on. It is only you who knows how thin the margin has become.
Eunoia Health is a private psychological therapy practice based in Horsham. We work with adults across West Sussex who are coping on the outside and carrying more than they let on, in person in the centre of Horsham and online from wherever in the county you happen to be.
There is no questionnaire and nothing to prepare. You book a free 15-minute chat, we talk about what is going on, and we tell you honestly whether we are the right fit. If we are not, we will say so and point you somewhere better.
Where we see people in West Sussex
Our consulting room is at Horsham Therapy Rooms in the town centre (RH12), a short walk from Horsham station. From Crawley, Southwater, Billingshurst, Warnham and Broadbridge Heath it is an easy trip, and we see people from Haywards Heath, Burgess Hill, Pulborough, Storrington and Steyning as well. If Horsham is where you want to be seen, our Horsham page has the detail on the rooms, parking and appointment days.
If you are further out, on the coast at Worthing, Shoreham, Littlehampton or Bognor Regis, or to the west around Chichester, Midhurst and Petworth, or over towards East Grinstead, you can skip the drive. Online sessions run by secure video with the same therapist, and they work in exactly the same way. Plenty of our clients across Sussex never set foot in Horsham, and some start online and come in person later, or the other way round.
We would rather be straightforward about where we are and give you a choice that works, whichever side of the county you live on.
What we help with
Most people who come to us from across West Sussex are dealing with anxiety: the intrusive what-ifs, the tension that never fully leaves the body, the lying awake running through what might go wrong. For many it has quietly grown into health anxiety, or into the rumination and checking that sits close to OCD.
We also work with depression and low mood, burnout and work stress, grief and bereavement, and sleep difficulties. We offer therapy for adults with ADHD and autism; our work there is therapy, and if what you need is a diagnosis or an assessment we will point you to a specialist service.
If what you are dealing with is not on that list, it does not mean we cannot help. You can see everything we work with, or simply tell us in the free chat.
Counsellor, psychotherapist or therapist?
People in Sussex search for all three, and usually mean the same thing: a trained professional to talk to, in confidence, about something that has become hard to carry alone. We are BACP-registered therapists, which means a professional code of ethics, regular clinical supervision, and a duty to tell you plainly if what you need sits outside what we offer. We work with adults, and our work is talking therapy; if what you need is a diagnosis or medication, we will say so and help you find the right route.
How we work: therapy that is designed to end
Our approach is Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, usually shortened to ACT. ACT does not try to silence difficult thoughts and feelings, which rarely works for long. It changes your relationship with them, so that they take up less room and you can act on what matters to you rather than on what you are trying to avoid.
We believe therapy should aim to end. That means short, purposeful episodes of work rather than an open-ended arrangement. We measure where you start, using GAD-7, PHQ-9 and AAQ, and we review progress with you as we go, so you can see the change rather than take our word for it.
You work with one named therapist for the whole course, whether you are in the room in Horsham or on a screen in Chichester. Sessions are 50 minutes, and the first full session is a 60-minute assessment.
Private therapy alongside the NHS
NHS Talking Therapies in Sussex is free, and for some people it is the right route. Private therapy with us adds choice: you book directly, you start as soon as you are ready, you work with a therapist you have chosen because you have read about them, and the course of work is shaped around you rather than a standard number of sessions.
We will tell you in the free chat if we think the NHS, or another local service, would serve you better. Some of our clients use private health insurance, and the free chat is the place to raise that.
What happens next
You book a free 15-minute chat with us. It is a conversation, not an assessment. We will ask what has brought you here and tell you honestly whether we think we can help.
If we are the right fit, the next step is a 60-minute initial assessment with your therapist, in Horsham or online. You talk through what has been happening, we take a baseline using GAD-7, PHQ-9 and AAQ, and together we agree where the work should focus.
After that, sessions are usually weekly. You stay with the same therapist throughout, and we review progress with you so that the work stays pointed at what matters.
Frequently asked questions
Do you have rooms in Crawley, Worthing or Chichester?
Our in-person sessions are in Horsham, with a second location in Wimbledon for clients in south-west London. For the rest of West Sussex we work online, with the same therapist and the same approach. If being in the room matters to you, Horsham is reachable from most of the county, and you can combine the two.
Do I need a GP referral?
You can book directly with us, with no referral needed. If you are hoping to use private health insurance, some insurers do ask for a GP referral first, so it is worth checking your policy.
Can I use private health insurance?
Yes. Our fees can be covered by Vitality, WPA, Healix Health, Healthcode, General & Medical Insurance and Allianz Partners. Check your policy for any excess or referral requirement, and mention your insurer in the free chat so we can get the paperwork right from the start.
How many sessions will I need?
It depends on you and what you bring. Because our work is designed to end, we are not interested in keeping you longer than you need. We agree a focus at the assessment, review progress with you as we go, and finish when the work is done rather than when a set number of sessions runs out.
Can I switch between Horsham and online?
Yes. You keep the same therapist whichever you choose, and you can move between in-person and online sessions as you need to.
What if I am in crisis?
We are not a crisis service. If you are in immediate danger, call 999 or go to A&E. For urgent mental health support in Sussex you can call NHS 111 and select the mental health option, at any time. Samaritans are available on 116 123, free, day and night. If you are not in crisis but things feel urgent, book the free chat and we will help you work out the next step.
Ready to talk?
Fifteen minutes. One honest conversation. No preparation needed, and if we are not the right fit for you, we will tell you and point you somewhere better.
