Your mind and body don't keep separate accounts.
A diagnosis that changes what your days look like. Pain that never quite leaves. A racing heart at 3am, or a mind that won't stop checking, counting or searching symptoms. A low mood that settled in so gradually you've stopped noticing it's there.
These are some of the most common reasons people come to us, and some of the most private.
Living alongside it, not fighting it
Much of what makes these difficulties exhausting is the struggle with them: the effort to push thoughts away, to get back to how things were, to feel normal again.
ACT works differently. It doesn't try to get rid of difficult thoughts and sensations. It changes your relationship with them, so they take up less room and you have more space for the life you want. It's recognised by NICE and has been studied across anxiety, depression, OCD, chronic pain and sleep difficulties.
How we work with it
We start with a 60-minute clinical assessment and use standard measures (GAD-7, PHQ-9 and AAQ) to set a baseline, so you can see what's changing over time as well as feel it. From there, sessions are 50 minutes and follow a clear structure agreed with you.
We aren't a crisis service, and we don't replace your GP or medical team. Where it helps, we're happy to work alongside them. If what you're facing is an eating disorder, we'll talk honestly with you about whether we're the right fit or help you find specialist support.
Start with a conversation
Fifteen minutes. One honest conversation. A free chat with one of our BACP-registered clinical therapists, to talk through what's going on and whether we're the right fit. You don't need to prepare anything, and there's no obligation afterwards
Areas we support
Choose the one that sounds closest. Most people's experience crosses more than one, and that's fine.
